Before an Owlet folds a single crease, we talk shapes: squares becoming triangles, triangles becoming wings. Paper folding is geometry a child can hold, and our own mascot, an owl mid-brushstroke, makes an obvious, motivating template to build toward.

Each fold has to be precise for the next one to work, which asks for a kind of sustained, quiet focus that’s rare in a four-to-nine-year-old’s day. We keep the group small for this one, and let each child move at their own folding speed rather than racing to keep up.

Owlets take home a finished paper owl. For the parents watching, it’s also a pretty good read on how their child handles a task that demands close attention, step by step.
